This is a love story between Jia and Jivan who face lots of problems before they are united in the end. The author has a very passionately written the book and has very aptly described all the characters in the book. The problems faced by Jia and Jivan, to express their feelings and the repercussion faced by them are very touching. The book starts with a Stampede and a hospital where the injured are treated and here the love story begins.
Jivan likes Jia and wants to marry her but there is opposition in his family, his mother who wants him to marry a Bengali girl. Then there is this India China relationship which also comes between them and they are separated.
The Author has successfully tried to bring in everything to make the book very interesting and has very aptly written about the war in the sub continent, the meetings in Washington and the after effects of the Washington meet. After lots of persuasion Jivan gets permission to visit China to meet Jia but then his plane crashes and it seems all is lost. But, Somehow Jivan survives and gets treated at a Beijing Hospital and is destined to meet his love and does meet her in the hospital room.
A very creative writer Sudama Chandra Panigrahi has touched upon a very sensitive issue and has done justice to the book. He has very nicely shown the Indo Sino relationship and has tried his best to give a new turn to the relationship.
The book is truly very engrossing and the way it has been written shows the knowledge of the writer or the study he undertook to write this book. The language is easy and writing well understandable though at time it is a bit difficult to follow.
